Full description:

A property of immense character with a wealth of features. Your Move in Canterbury proudly offer to the market this quite unique detached period home, located in Upstreet near Canterbury. Where to start though, when describing this wonderful property? On our first visit, the vendors invited us in through the Breakfast Room door to the rear of the property. It has a vaulted ceiling, traditional butler sink in one corner of the room and quarry tiled flooring. From that moment it was evident that traditional features would be prominent and worn proudly throughout the accomodation. The kitchen has a host of exposed beams to both the walls and the ceiling. In the dining room, there is a bespoke staircase leading to the first floor, one of two to be precise and the stair case itself seems oversized with a bell-ringing rope hand rail. The lounge faetures the main entrance to the property and a beautiful Inglenook fireplace which your attention is immediately drawn to. The oil burning stove set in the fireplace makes for a wonderful focal point in the room. The vendor then led us through a narrow, low head height door was a lobby which opened into what we would describe as a snug which features the second staircase that leads to one of the four first floor bedrooms. The first floor bedrooms are all double sized and the bathroom features a three piece white suite with a traditional feel to it. The bedroom accessed via the snug is dual aspect and has a wonderful vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers. This bedroom can also be accessed via one of the other bedrooms too. Externally, the rear garden is mainly laid to lawn with a courtyard directly off the rear of the property. There is a driveway for approximately two vehicles and a detached double garage. This however, is really only scratching the surface on the features that this property can list and we strongly advise a viewing and at your very earliest opportunity.

Location

The property is located on The Street in Upstreet, near Canterbury. Upstreet can be found approximately 7 miles to the North East of Canterbury on the A28, which provides a direct link back to the city centre or to Margate and Ramsgate in the opposite direction as well as Manston Airport. Upstreet features a post office and two pubs. The Grove Ferry Picnic site can be found nearby, beside the river Stour and is a popular place for visitors to the area. The property is also within walking distance of The Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve.

Our View

Aside from all the character and features, this is actually a well proportioned family home. We like that the snug has the separate staircase to one of the bedrooms particularly. It could be ideal for a teenager craving their own space for example. The property doesnt just rest on its period credentials either. The property has oil fired central heating and traditional looking bespoke double glazed windows. The property specification is also well suited to the demands of family living with four reception rooms, the double garage and the driveway parking. In summary, this is a charming period family home offering direct access to Canterbury city centre, whilst being on the doorstep of wonderful countryside and river walks to relax and unwind to.
